About myself
Background
I spent the majority of my life in Vienna, which is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and if you have not been there I can tell you: Vienna is worth a visit. I graduated in geoinformation in 2001 (MSc, Diplom Ingenieur) at the Institute of Photogrammetry, Vienna University of Technology. From 2001 to 2003 I was employed as a scientific project manager at the Advanced Computer Vision, GmbH a subsidary of the Austrian Research Centers. 2003 I joined the research group of Andrew U. Frank at Vienna University of Technology. 2007 I was awarded the Doctor technicae (Dr. techn.) by the Faculty of Informatics, Vienna University of Technology (Ph.D. in GIScience). Currently I am employed as a Research Associate in the research group of Chris Jones, School of Computer Science, Cardiff University.
Off Work
When I do not work (according to my wife this is quite seldom) I like to ride my Alp'd Huez, play classical guitar or read a good book. I like railways the big ones and the small, and hope my son will soon join my passion. Most of my spare time I spend with my children, which gives me the great opportunity to play with Lego, fly with the kites in autumn, and go sledging in winter.
